The owners of a Toyota Camry contacted the Summerville Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their home while the couple was asleep.

The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Camry.

A short while later, deputies from the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Toyota while it was being driven on several highways around the county.

A felony stop was made on the Toyota by the Dorchester County SO deputies and the Summerville PD officers. Two suspects were arrested and the Camry was recovered intact and undamaged. The suspects were transported to the Dorchester County Jail. The investigation is continuing.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Camry in June 2005 at Beltway Toyota in Marlow Heights, Maryland.
