The owner of this Honda Civic contacted the Los Angeles Police Department and reported that vehicle had been stolen from in front of the their home. The officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda Civic.

Within less than 2 hours from the activation, the LAPD Air Support officers picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the flight officers tracked the Honda to the area of Avalon Blvd and Century Blvd. The LAPD Southeast Division officers responded to the area and observed the Honda travelling East on 96th St towards Avalon Blvd. As the officers neared the Honda, the suspect turned into an alley just off 95th St.  The suspect stopped and exited the Honda.  At that point he was taken into custody without further incident. Additional officers arrived and assisted with clearing the Honda of any other suspects.  The suspect was taken to the LAPD Southeast Division and interviewed by Auto Theft Detectives.  He admitted he knew the Honda was stolen and was booked for the theft of the Honda.

The LoJack® Stolen Vehicle Recovery System was installed in this Honda Civic in July 2000.
