The owners of a Mazda M6 contacted the Tucson Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen while shopping at a supermarket.  The owners discovered the keys missing and then found that the Mazda was gone from the parking lot.

The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mazda.

A short while later deputies from the Pima County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Tucson Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mazda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers and deputies tracked the Mazda to the area of 6th Avenue and Ajo Way.

The Tucson PD and the Pima County SO located the Mazda occupied and conducted a high risk traffic stop.  Two suspects were taken into custody without incident.  The Tucson PD took case disposition and recovered the stolen Mazda.  The Mazda was processed for evidence and towed for safekeeping.  The Mazda was later returned to the owners in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Mazda M6 in March 2005.
