The owners of a Landscaping Company returned to a job site in Claymont Delaware and discovered that a 2002 Kubota Mini Excavator was missing from the job site. The general manager called 911 and the Delaware State Police dispatched a trooper to investigate the incident. The trooper arrived on location, interviewed the landscaping manager and searched the area for the Kubota. When the search had negative results, the trooper prepared a stolen vehicle report and arranged to have the stolen vehicle information entered into the Delaware State Police Computer System, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the stolen Kubota.
Later that same day a Delaware Park Ranger became aware that a silent LoJack signal was being broadcast in the area of Frazer Road in New Castle County Delaware. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) installed in the Delaware Park Ranger’s marked patrol vehicle, the ranger tracked the signal to a private residence located in the 3200 block of Frazer Road. The Delaware State Troopers arrived to assist the ranger and a subsequent investigation revealed that the stolen Kubota Mini Excavator was secreted behind a building and surrounded with tree branches. Located next to the stolen equipment was a trailer which was apparently used to transport the stolen equipment. The mini excavator and the trailer were confiscated and secured by the Delaware State Police and the investigation into the theft is ongoing.
The owner of the construction equipment was advised that the Kubota had been recovered.
The LoJack® System was installed in the 2002 Kubota Mini Excavator in November of 2014.
