The owner of a Chevrolet Suburban contacted the Fresno Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen from his residence. The Fresno PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.
Less than one hour after the LoJack was activated, investigators from CCAT, the Fresno Police Department Auto Theft Task Force picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their undercover police vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the investigators tracked the Chevrolet to a residential area near First and Belmont Avenues in central Fresno. The Chevrolet was found parked at the curb in front of a residence. Investigators conducted surveillance on the Chevrolet for several hours but the suspects never returned. The Chevrolet was recovered intact and undamaged, but for two seat mounted DVD viewers. The Chevrolet was returned to the owner at the scene of the recovery.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Suburban in July 2007.
