A substitute teacher at a high school in University Place became the victim of auto theft when a student took the keys from his coat pocket, went to the parking lot and drove away with the Honda.  This was captured on surveillance video at the school. The theft was reported to the University Place Police Department.  The report was verified and they entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

Within twenty minutes, the Tacoma Police Department officers and the Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.

Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, they tracked the signal and observed the Honda being driven on Center Street in Tacoma.  The Honda pulled into a large retail hardware store parking lot.  The driver was arrested without incident.  He admitted to stealing the Honda and was booked into the Pierce County Jail.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Civic in April of 2004.
