The owners of a 2005 Ford F250 contacted the Harris County Sheriff’s Department to report that their vehicle was discovered stolen from their driveway after they received a LoJack Early Warning notification from their LoJack® Stolen Vehicle Recovery System.  Harris County SD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford pickup.

Twenty six (26) minutes later officers from the Texas Department of Public Safety air support unit 102 picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford pickup with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Ford to a track of land where the Ford was hidden in a heavy wooded area. In addition ground patrol officers discovered two (2) 2006 Ford F250 4×4 diesel pickups that were also stolen. Evidence indicated a chop shop was operating in the wooded area of the property. While officers were investigating at the scene two suspects arrived on ATV’s and when they noticed the police officers they fled into the woods. A brief chase ensued but the suspects quickly escaped on the ATV’s. All vehicles were processed prior to being stored for safekeeping until the owners could be contacted. This investigation continues.
