The owners of a 2006 Toyota Corolla contacted the Los Angeles Police Department Mission Division to report that their vehicle was stolen.

The LAPD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

A short time later, The LAPD Van Nuys patrol officers picked up the silent LoJack signal from the LoJack® System installed on the stolen Toyota on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol units. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the Toyota was tracked to the area of Woodman Ave and Sherman Way. The officers observed the stolen Toyota parked in a store parking lot. As the officers passed the Toyota they observed two suspects inside of the vehicle. As the officers turned the police vehicle around, the suspect exited the Toyota and walked away. When additional units arrived, the suspects were taken into custody for the stolen Toyota without incident. Both suspects had left their cell phones in the stolen Toyota.

The Toyota was impounded for safe keeping.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota on August 2006.
