The owners of a 2003 Ford F150 contacted the Los Angeles Police Department-Mission Division to report that their vehicle was stolen.

The LAPD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

A short time later, LAPD-Topanga Division patrol officers picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol units. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the Ford was tracked to the area of the 7300 block of Milwood Ave.  While the officers were deploying on the stolen Ford, they observed a suspect enter the Ford. The suspect saw the officers and then fled on foot. Officers conducted an investigation at the location. The suspect was located and identified by witnesses and was then taken into custody for the stolen Ford without incident.

The Ford was impounded for safe keeping.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford on March 2003.
