The owners of a Mercedes-Benz SL500 contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen without the keys from in front of their residence in central Phoenix.

Phoenix PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mercedes-Benz.

A short while later the Phoenix PD helicopter crew picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mercedes-Benz with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the helicopter crew and Phoenix PD patrol officers tracked the Mercedes-Benz to a neighborhood near 14th Street and Missouri Avenue.

The Mercedes-Benz was located abandon on a side street in the neighborhood.  The Mercedes-Benz was processed for evidence and later returned to the owner in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Mercedes-Benz in April, 2006.
