- recovery stories
The owner of a 2007 Saturn Aura XE contacted the Tucson Police Department to report that the vehicle had been stolen while he slept. The owner said that when he awoke, the keys and vehicle were gone. The owner advised police that a recent acquaintance (female) took the Saturn without permission.
The Tucson PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Saturn.
A short while later the Phoenix Police Department helicopter picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Saturn with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers in the helicopter tracked the Saturn to a motel near I-10 and Baseline Road in the city of Tempe.
The Tempe Police Department was contacted and officers responded to the area. Tempe police officers conducted surveillance for several hours before the female suspect was observed getting into the stolen Saturn. She was taken into custody without incident. The Saturn was processed for evidence and towed from the scene. The suspect was arrested and booked for theft of means of transportation. The Saturn was later returned to the owners in good condition.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Saturn Aura XE in March, 2013.
