The owners of a 2008 Dodge Charger contacted the Modesto Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. The victim indicated the Dodge was taken sometime during the night from in front of his residence.

The Modesto PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers as stolen, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Dodge.

Investigators from the auto theft task force picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Dodge with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their undercover vehicles, patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the investigators tracked the Dodge to an apartment complex near the area of Stanford and Hann Streets in Modesto. The Dodge was parked and unattended so the investigators began a surveillance of the Dodge in hopes of catching the thief.

After several hours and negative results the investigators contacted the owner to come and recover his Dodge.

The Dodge did not sustain any damage.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Dodge Charger in July 2014.
