Bellwood Police Department responded to the victim’s residence on the 400 block of south 24th street in Bellwood, Illinois. The victim stated his vehicle a 2004 Land Rover Freelander had been stolen from in front of his house. Bellwood PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Land Rover.

The next day a vehicle equipped with a LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) picked up the audible and directional signals being broadcast by the stolen Land Rover Freelander. Following these directional signals the Land Rover was tracked to a garage behind an abandoned building on the 14800 block of South Ivy Ave in East Chicago Indiana. East Chicago Police arrived on the scene and recovered the stolen 2004 Land Rover from inside the garage. East Chicago Police found the overhead doors secured with padlocks necessitating the use of bolt cutters to remove the stolen Land Rover.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2004 Land Rover Freelander at Luxury Motors, O’Hare, and Franklin Park, Illinois.
