The owners of a 2001 Dodge Ram contacted the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department to report that their pick-up was stolen while they were warming it up.  The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Dodge Ram.

Approximately 90 minutes after the stolen vehicle entry, officers from Albuquerque PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Dodge with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to a residence in the area of 4th Street and Headingly, located in the Valley Area Command of Albuquerque.  The auto theft detectives requested and obtained a criminal search warrant to recover the stolen Dodge concealed in the backyard behind a locked gate.  While executing the search warrant, detectives also located a stolen Ford Escape in the front yard.  Three subjects were taken into custody at the scene as a result of the investigation.

The stolen Dodge and Ford were recovered and released to their happy owners at the recovery scene.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Dodge Ram in June 2001.
