The owners of a 2008 Honda Accord contacted the Harris County Constable, Precinct 5 office to report that their vehicle was stolen from their residence.

The Harris County Constable’ Office verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda Accord.

A short while later  deputies  from the Harris County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signals from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the vehicle to the corner convenience store on FM 529 where they observed the Honda leaving the parking lot. The deputy noticed that the vehicle was occupied by six subjects as it passed him. The deputy turned around and followed the vehicle and called for backup. As the deputy activated his emergency lights for a traffic stop the vehicle sped up attempting to flee from officers. Five of the suspects were quickly apprehended and placed under arrest for various charges, including outstanding warrants and narcotics. The driver was on bond for a previous auto theft. The sixth suspect has been identified and warrants have been issued for his arrest.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Accord in November 2007.
