The owners of a Cadillac Escalade contacted NYPD’s 18th precinct to report their vehicle was stolen while parked in Mid-town Manhattan near W.51St and 11th Ave.

NYPD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers (NYSPIN/ NCIC) which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Cadillac.

A short while later officers assigned to NYPD’s 18th Precinct picked up the silent LoJack® homing signals from the stolen Cadillac with the LoJack  Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked and located the unoccupied vehicle parked on W.58th St near 6th Ave. in Manhattan’s 18th Precinct. Surveillance was setup for several hours with negative results.  The undamaged vehicle was eventually released to a very happy owner at the recovery location.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Cadillac Escalade in December 2006.
