The owner of this Honda CRV parked the car at a large discount store in Marysville.  Unknown to him, a thief was in the parking lot watching people park their cars.  The suspect observed the owner of the CRV exit without putting keys in his pocket and correctly believed the keys were still in the vehicle.  This made for an easy opportunity to steal the car.   When the theft was discovered it was reported to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.  The information was verified and they entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.
Less than two hours later,  officers from Mill Creek PD and Lynnwood PD picked up the silent LoJack signals from the stolen Honda on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.

Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked it to Freeway Place at Andrew Sater Road, where it was found abandoned.   Follow-up investigation by detectives who viewed video surveillance of the parking lot resulted in positive identification of a suspect who was already in jail on unrelated charges.  It was returned to a grateful owner who purchased the Honda CRV used, and was not aware the Honda was equipped with LoJack.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda in July of 1999.
