The owner of this Honda Civic contacted the LAPD Southwest Division and reported that vehicle had been stolen. The officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

Within 10 minutes from activation, LAPD Air-18 flight officers picked up the silent LoJack signals from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to 65th St and Raymond Ave notifying ground units from the 77th Street Division of the signal.  Units from LAPD 77th Street Division responded and tracked the moving signal to the area of Florence Ave and Van Ness where they spotted the vehicle detaining two female adults without further incident. The female driver apparently was the named suspect in the original crime report and was later booked VC 10851 driving a motor vehicle without owner’s permission.  The undamaged vehicle was later released to the victim.

The LoJack® Stolen Vehicle Recovery System was installed in this Honda in March 2008.
