The owners of a 2005 Toyota Corolla contacted the Houston Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen by carjacking. Several men approached the driver at a convenience store with handguns and demanded the vehicle. The owner complied and ran away and called 911 to file a report.

Houston PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota Corolla.

A short while later officers from the Houston Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signals from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers   tracked the vehicle to the 7500 block of MLK Blvd. where it was parked in an apartment parking lot. Officers set up surveillance with negative results. The vehicle was processed for prints and returned to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Corolla in April 2004 at Mike Calvert Toyota, Houston.
