A person known to the owner of a 2006 Mercedes Benz 230, removed the keys from the owner and stole their Mercedes Benz. The owner complied with state statutes by filing a “Ten Day Demand Letter” with the district attorney’s office. After time limits were met the owner contacted Mesquite PD and filed a stolen vehicle report.

Mesquite police department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mercedes Benz.

The following day officers from Boerne PD, 300 miles from Mesquite, picked up the silent LoJack signals from the stolen Mercedes with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to a large apartment complex where the vehicle was located, parked and abandoned. Officers processed the vehicle for evidence and stored it pending notification of the rightful owner. Investigation will be handled by Mesquite police department on the known suspect.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2006 Mercedes Benz in December 2005.
