The owners of a Audi Avant S4 contacted the Easton Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from within the confines of Easton.  An Easton officer was dispatched to the scene and interviewed the vehicle owner. The officer checked the area for the stolen vehicle and then prepared a stolen vehicle report.

The Easton Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Audi.

A short while later officers from Bethlehem PD picked up the silent LoJack signals from the stolen Audi with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the signal to the area of 5th and Mohican streets and observed the parked vehicle. The officers cautiously approached the vehicle and determined that same was unoccupied. The members of the Lehigh County Auto Theft Task Force were notified, quickly responded to the scene and placed the subject vehicle under surveillance. After an extended period of time the surveillance had negative results and was canceled by the task force supervisor.

The vehicle was confiscated for safekeeping and the incident remains under investigation.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Audi on Feb 11th 2000 at Herb Chambers Motorcars.
