The owners of a 2012 Kawasaki EX250 motorcycle contacted the San Leandro Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from the side yard of their home. The motorcycle was secured with a fork lock and an additional front wheel lock.

San Leandro Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Kawasaki motorcycle.

A short while later East Bay Regional Parks Police helicopter picked up the silent LoJack® homing signals from the stolen Kawasaki with the LoJack  Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the Police helicopter tracked the vehicle to an unincorporated area in Alameda County near Hayward. The helicopter called for assistance from the Alameda County Sheriff’s Department, who took over the tracking .The stolen Kawasaki was found abandoned on a side street.

*This is the second time in 2014 that this vehicle was stolen and recovered with the help of the LoJack® System

The LoJack® System was installed in the Kawasaki EX250 in February 2011.
