The owners of a 2006 Toyota Corolla contacted the Chicago Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from in front of their residence on the 800 block of North Wolcott Ave in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood. The Chicago Police Department verified the steal and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota Corolla.

Ten minutes later officers from the Chicago’s Police Department and the Cook County Sheriff’s Office picked up the silent LoJack® homing signals from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack® Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from their PTC’s, the Cook County Sheriff’s deputies tracked the vehicle to its location where it was parked and unoccupied on the street in the1800 Block of West Rice Street not far from the location of the steal.

The vehicle was recovered undamaged and returned to its owner before it could be stripped or re-tagged. Police investigation into this recovery continues.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Corolla on 2/8/2006 at Bay Ridge Toyota in Brooklyn New York.
