LoJack® System Helps the Philadelphia Police Department Recover a Stolen 2009 Toyota Camry

On Monday October 13th 2014, the owner of a 2009 Toyota Camry discovered that his vehicle had been stolen from the area of 8000 Mansfield Avenue in Philadelphia Pa. The vehicle owner contacted 911 and Philadelphia Police Radio dispatched an officer to investigate the incident. The officer quickly arrived on location, interviewed the complainant and searched the area for the subject vehicle. When the vehicle could not be located, the assigned officer prepared a stolen vehicle report.
The stolen vehicle report was taken to the Philadelphia Police 14th Police District HQ where the vehicle information was transmitted to the Philadelphia Police Crime Information Center and ultimately the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the 2009 Toyota.
Minutes after the LoJack activation signal had been broadcast from the LoJack tower system , Philadelphia Police 35th District officers picked up the silent LoJack® homing signals from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack® Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in Philadelphia patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the signal to the area of 200 Laver Street, where the subject vehicle was observed parked at the curb. The officers cautiously approached the vehicle and determined that the vehicle was unoccupied.
The undamaged vehicle was confiscated for safekeeping and the owner was notified regarding the recovery of the vehicle.
