LoJack® System Helps Los Angeles Police Recover Stolen Toyota

The owners of a 2009 Toyota Venza contacted the Los Angeles Police Department-Van Nuys Division to report that their vehicle was stolen.

LAPD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

12 minutes later, LAPD-Devonshire patrol officers picked up the silent signals from the LoJack® System installed on the stolen Toyota on the LoJack® Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack® computers, the vehicle was tracked to the area of Balboa Blvd and Nordhoff Street. The stolen vehicle was observed in a store parking lot. Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the suspect failed to comply and a vehicle pursuit ensued. The suspect abounded the vehicle, and fled on foot. The suspect was located and was observed tossing the keys.  The suspect was taken into custody for 10851 VC (DWOC) and possession of narcotics, without further incident.The vehicle was impounded for safe keeping.
