The owners of a 2007 Melroe Bobcat contacted the Glendale Police Department to report that their Bobcat was stolen from their business. The Bobcat was on a 1998 Tilt-bed trailer.

Glendale PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Melroe Bobcat.

Fifty-three minutes later, detectives working LA County TRAP West Team, picked up the silent signals from the LoJack® System installed on the Melroe Bobcat on the portable LoJack® Police Tracking Computers that are assigned to their detail. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack® computers, the Bobcat was tracked to the area of Doris Place and Blake Ave. The stolen Bobcat and trailer were hooked up to a stolen 2005 GMC Sierra P/U truck. The detectives monitored the stolen Bobcat, trailer and vehicle. The vehicles were moved by the suspect’s to the area of Bullard and Alhambra. LAPD-Hollenbeck patrol officers, along with an LAPD air unit responded to the location. The detectives conducted an investigation at the location and recovered the stolen Bobcat, trailer, and the 2005 GMC Sierra, along with a stolen 2007 Zieman trailer, and a (Embezzled) 2010 Toyota Tundra P/U truck.  Four suspects were taken into custody for auto theft related charges. Detectives have classified this case as a “Theft Ring”.

The vehicles were impounded for safe keeping.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Melroe Bobcat on 05/31/07 at Valley Bobcat, in the city of Sun Valley, CA.
