The owners of a 2010 Case 580 Backhoe contacted the Houston Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their construction site on I-610 LP where it had been secured the previous evening at the end of the work day. When security personnel checked the worksite later that same night they discovered the backhoe missing and contacted the police.

The Houston Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Case Backhoe.

A short while  later officers, from the Houston Police Department  picked up the silent LoJack® homing signals from the stolen Case backhoe with the LoJack® Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to Chippewa Street North of the I-610 LP where it had been hidden in a grove of trees on a large property. The backhoe was released to the owner at the location. No damage to the backhoe and no suspects.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Case backhoe in September 2010.
