LoJack® System Helps Illinois State Police and Aurora Police Department Recover Stolen 2005 Honda Civic LX, Taken in Residential Burglary.

The owner of a 2005 Honda Civic LX notified Aurora Police Department to report that he had been a victim of a residential burglary and his vehicle had also been stolen from near his residence on the 700 block of Tinley Road in Aurora, Illinois. Aurora Police after verifying the information provided by the victim of the theft entered the vehicle into state and federal crime computers as stolen. This automatically activated the LoJack® System hidden within the stolen Honda.

Minutes after the 2005 Honda became activated, an Illinois State Police fixed-wing airplane picked up the audible and directional signals emanating from the stolen Honda over Oswego a town approximately seven miles south of Aurora. The Illinois State Police airplane, low on fuel, radioed the location to a different LoJack equipped fixed-wing aircraft and landed for gas. The ISP plane re-routed to location picked up the stolen Honda in Aurora and directed a land vehicle equipped with LoJack tracking system to its general location were the land unit tracked and located the stolen 2005 Honda LX parked on the 300 block of Lakelawn Blvd in Aurora. Aurora police placed the vehicle under surveillance and recovered the vehicle. Criminal investigation into the recovery of the stolen 2005 Honda Civic LX and the residential burglary continues
