A contractor contacted the Harris County Sheriff’s Department to report that a 2012 Case 580 N backhoe that they had on rented was stolen sometime during the previous night from their construction site in 10000 block of Airline Drive.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Department  verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the CASE backhoe.

Later that same day, deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Department  picked up the silent LoJack® homing signals from the stolen backhoe with the LoJack® Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the backhoe to a large wooded area some five miles from the original theft location. Deputies speculated the backhoe was hidden and would be moved over the upcoming Labor Day weekend. There are no suspects in this case.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2012 CASE 580 N in January 2012.
