The owners of a 2009 Toyota Sienna contacted Suffolk County’s 1st precinct to report that their vehicle was stolen while parked inside a house of worship parking lot in North Amityville, NY when the owner inadvertently left a set of keys inside the vehicle.

Suffolk County PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers (NYSPIN/ NCIC) which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

Minutes later officers from Amityville Village PD and Suffolk County PD picked up the silent LoJack® homing signals from the stolen Saturn with the LoJack® Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked and located the unoccupied vehicle parked on the 100 block of Ward Ave in North Amityville. Surveillance was setup for a short time with negative results.  The owner was eventually contacted and the undamaged vehicle along with the car keys was returned to a very happy owner at the recovery location.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Sienna in July 2009.
