Late in the evening the owner of this Toyota Camry, who lives in the 8400 block of SE Cornwell Avenue in Happy Valley, heard a noise and realized someone had entered the residence and took keys to the Camry which were hanging on a hook near the front door.    He ran outside and observed the burglar in his car trying to start it.  He pounded on the window, but the thief was able to start the car and leave the area.  Clackamas County SO was immediately notified.  They verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.
Early the next morning, several agencies picked up the silent LoJack® homing signals transmitting from the Toyota with the LoJack® Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles  and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, Portland Police officers tracked the vehicle to SE 87th & SE Division Street where the car was observed occupied by one male suspect.  The vehicle was stopped at NE 84th & NE Halsey where a K9 was deployed after the driver ran from the scene.  The suspect was apprehended with assistance from the K9 and booked into jail on multiple charges.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota in October of 2006.
