The owners of a 2001 BMW 325i convertible contacted the Portland Police Bureau to report the vehicle was stolen from the 7000 block of North Lombard Street.  It was taken sometime between midnight and noon on August 2nd.  Portland Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW.

A short time later, two Portland Police K9 units picked up the silent LoJack® homing signals transmitting from the BMW with the LoJack® Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles  and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to a residence in the 6100 block of SE 103rd Place. The car was not occupied and had a broken window.  Occupants of the residence were contacted and suspect information was obtained.  In addition to the BMW, a 2011 Carry-On cargo trailer was recovered.  It was stolen in 2011 from Portland.

The LoJack® System was installed in the BMW in April of 2001.
