The owner of this Chevrolet contacted the San Bernardino Sheriff’s and reported that their vehicle had been stolen. The Sheriff’s Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.

A short while later officers from the Redlands Police Department picked up the silent LoJack® homing signals from the stolen Chevrolet with the LoJack® Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to the area of Sun and Ohio where assisting units observed the vehicle being driven.  A felony traffic stop was initiated and the driver/suspect was detained without further incident.  The investigation resulted in the suspect being booked for Grand Theft Auto and outstanding arrest warrants. The recovered vehicle was stored and later released to the owner. Case referred to station detectives for filing.

The LoJack® Stolen Vehicle Recovery System was installed in this Chevrolet in June 2005.
