The owners of a 2008 Nissan Sentra contacted the Chicago Police Department (CPD) to report that their vehicle was stolen from a residential street in the 2400 block of West Barry Avenue in Chicago’s Avondale neighborhood. The CPD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan Pathfinder.

A short while later patrol officers from CPD’s 20th District picked up the silent LoJack® homing signals from the stolen Nissan Sentra with the LoJack® Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles.  Following the directional and audible cues from their PTC’s, the CPD officers tracked the vehicle to the 6100 Block of North Wolcott Avenue in Chicago’s West Ridge neighborhood where it was recovered parked on the street unoccupied. Police investigation into this theft continues.

The 2008 Nissan Sentra was recovered in less than eight hours and returned to its owners before it could be stripped, damaged, or cloned.

The LoJack®System was installed in the 2008 Nissan Sentra at Habberstad Nissan, Huntington, New York in August of 2008.
