The owners of a Honda Civic contacted the Mesa Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen sometime over night from the parking lot of their apartment complex in Mesa.

The Mesa Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

A short while later Highway Patrol officers from the Arizona Department of Public Safety picked up the silent LoJack® homing signals from the stolen Honda with the LoJack® Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle travelling on Interstate 10 in the Phoenix metro area.

The officers followed the stolen Honda off I-10 onto Ray Road in Chandler.  The suspect driving the stolen Honda pulled into a shopping center parking lot and bailed out on foot.  After a short foot pursuit the officers detained and arrested the male suspect.  The Honda was later returned to the owners with minor damage.
