The owners of a 2007 Toyota 4Runner discovered their vehicle had been stolen.  They immediately contacted the Salt Lake City Police Department who verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

A short while later a trooper with the Utah Highway Patrol and officers with  the Salt Lake City Police picked up the silent signals from the LoJack® System installed on stolen Toyota with the LoJack® Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack® computer, the trooper quickly tracked the SUV into the parking lot of a local motel near 7200 block of Catalpa Street in Midvale Utah. Backup officers responded to assist. Also recovered in the parking lot next to the Toyota 4Runner was a recently stolen 2000 Lexus RX3. Two drivers and a third suspect were taken into custody for stolen property, bank cards and drug paraphernalia. Police found a set of keys to a third stolen vehicle – 2004 Acura MDX that was located in the 4100 block of S. Redwood in nearby Taylorsville. The investigation continues.

The LoJack® System was installed on the Toyota 4Runner by “owner request” on August 29, 2007 at Car Max in Laurel Maryland.
