This case involves a Toyota Camry that was stolen from its owners’ apartment complex in Glendale, AZ, and recovered in El Cajon, CA the very same day by local police assisted by the LoJack® system that was installed in the car when it was purchased.

On July 1st, 2014, the Toyota’s owners contacted the Glendale Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack transponder concealed in the Camry, which was installed at Courtesy Chevrolet in Phoenix, AZ, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, officers from the El Cajon, CA Police Department picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Toyota was located on Redwood Avenue in El Cajon, where it was parked and abandoned. Police retrieved the Camry, which was in good condition, and soon returned it to its appreciative owners.
