Construction workers in Houston, TX were shocked on a recent Friday when they arrived at their job site to discover their leased 2014 John Deere 310 backhoe was missing. It’s a good thing that this valuable piece of equipment had been protected with the LoJack® system. With LoJack’s assistance, local law enforcement recovered the machine later that same day.

On June 13th, 2014, the commercial rental customer contacted the Houston Police department and reported the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the backhoe.

Later that same day, officers from the Houston PD picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen machine on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers found the John Deere in a large wooded area off U S Highway 90. The backhoe, valued at $75,000, was retrieved and soon returned to the job site.
