The owners of a 2014 Mazda CX-5 had purchased their vehicle in early June 2014, and decided at that time to protect their new asset with the LoJack® system. This purchase turned out to be very timely as their SUV was stolen later that same month. With LoJack’s assistance, local law enforcement recovered the CX-5, without damage, later that same day.

On June 29th, 2014, the Mazda’s owners contacted the Denver Police Department and reported that their vehicle had been stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the CX-5, which was installed at Romero Buick Hyundai Mazda in Ontario, CA.

A short while later, officers with the Denver PD picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen SUV with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers located the Mazda on East 12th Avenue, where it was parked and abandoned. The undamaged CX-5, valued at $25,000, was retrieved and soon returned to its thankful owners.
