The owner of a Saab 93 parked his vehicle on the street in Cambridge on a recent Sunday. When he returned to the area later that afternoon, his vehicle was gone. The LoJack® system that was installed when the car was purchased proved its worth by assisting local law enforcement in recovering the 93 later that same day.

On June 15th, 2014, the Saab’s owner reported the crime to the Cambridge Police Department. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the 93, which was installed at Herb Chambers Saab in Boston, MA.

A short while later, officers from the Boston Police Department began picking up the silent homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Saab was located at the intersection of Knapp Street and Harrison Avenue near Boston Common, where it was parked and unoccupied. Officers retrieved the undamaged 93 and soon returned it to its grateful owner.
