A company that rents vehicles or construction equipment knows what a big problem it is if one of their assets is stolen. They not only lose the machine itself but the profit it brings in. That is why so many of these organizations choose to protect their fleet with the LoJack® system, so law enforcement has an advantage in retrieving a stolen machine. In this case, a rented Ford F-350 was not returned within the specified time. When company employees followed up, they learned that the renter’s phone number and address were bogus and the credit card used for the deposit was of no value. Because this truck was armed with LoJack, local police were able to recover it the same day it was reported.

On June 18th, 2014, the manager of the rental firm contacted the Lakewood Police Department to report the incident. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the F-350.

A short while later, officers with the Denver PD picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen truck with the LoJack tracking computers
installed in their patrol vehicles. They located the Ford in the area of 6th and Sheridan where it was found parked and unoccupied. The F-350 was retrieved and soon returned to the rental company. This was the second incident where this vehicle had been stolen and recovered by police assisted by LoJack.
