On a recent Monday, the owners of an elevator company in Orlando, FL discovered that a rented Multiquip generator had been stolen from the rear yard of their business. Because the leasing company wanted to protect their assets, this machine was protected with the LoJack® system. With assistance from LoJack, local law enforcement made a fast, safe, same-day recovery.

On May 4th, 2014, the company’s owner contacted the Orlando Police to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the machine information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the generator.

A short while later, deputies from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen machine on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The deputies tracked the Multiquip to a private residence off Hofner Ave. The renter of the home told police the property owner had parked the generator there the previous evening. The suspect was later arrested, and the generator was soon returned to the elevator company.
