The owner of a Land Rover Range Rover in Cleveland, OH, was carjacked at gunpoint right outside her home on a recent Tuesday. Although the thieves had hidden her vehicle from view, the LoJack® system that was installed at purchase helped local law enforcement recover the SUV later that same day.

On June 17th, 2014, the Land Rover’s owner contacted the Cleveland Police Department to report that her vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack transponder concealed in the Land Rover, which was installed at Land Rover of South Dade in Miami, FL, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, officers with the Cleveland PD picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Land Rover was located in the garage of a vacant house of a residential area in Cleveland, abandoned with the keys in the ignition. Police retrieved the Range Rover and soon returned it to its thankful owner.
