This case involves a BMW 328i that was stolen from a western suburb of Chicago, IL, on a recent Monday. The victims were grateful that the LoJack® system had been installed when the car was purchased. With LoJack’s help, local police recovered the vehicle, without damage, later that same day.

On June 16th, 2014, the BMW’s owner contacted the Brookfield Police to report that their vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This action automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the 325i, which was installed at Harloff BMW in Encinitas, CA.

A short while later, officers from the Chicago Police 8th District picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers located the BMW on South Luna Avenue, where it was parked and unoccupied. The undamaged 328i was retrieved and soon returned to its relieved owners.
