Parking your car on the street with the keys inside is never a good idea. The owner of a Nissan Maxima found this out the hard way when his car was stolen on a recent Monday. Thanks to the excellent work of local law enforcement, assisted by the LoJack® system that was installed when the car was purchased, the Maxima was back in its owner’s possession later that same day.

On June 16th, 2014, the owner of a Nissan Maxima contacted the NYPD 32nd Precinct to report his vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the NYSPIN and NCIC state and federal crime computers. This action automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Maxima, which was installed at Freehold Nissan in Freehold, NJ.

A short while later, detectives from the Bronx DA’s Auto Squad picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Nissan was located while traveling on Prospect Ave. A traffic stop was performed and the driver was taken into custody. Police retrieved the undamaged Maxima and soon returned it to its extremely happy owner.
