On a recent Wednesday, the owner of a Jeep Grand Cherokee discovered his SUV was missing from his driveway. The LoJack® system that was installed when the vehicle was purchased proved its worth by helping local law enforcement make a fast, safe same day recovery.

The Jeep’s owner contacted the Titusville Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen on April 23rd, 2014. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Grand Cherokee, which was installed at Courtesy Chrysler Jeep in Casselberry, FL.

A short while later, deputies from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their helicopter. The flight crew located the Jeep in a rear yard of a private residence in Titusville and notified ground units.

The ground officers not only found the SUV, but also discovered two engines from previously stolen vehicles. The homeowner was arrested and the Grand Cherokee was retrieved and soon returned to its grateful owner.
