The owner of a Chevrolet TrailBlazer in Largo, FL, surely wasn’t happy to discover that his SUV had been stolen from the parking lot of his apartment complex on a recent Monday. Our victim did have a reason to cheer up later that day, because his local police, assisted by the LoJack® system installed when the vehicle was purchased, made a fast, safe, same-day recovery.

On April 21st, 2014, the Chevy’s owner contacted the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office to report that his vehicle was stolen. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the TrailBlazer, which was installed at AutoWay Chevrolet in Clearwater, FL.

A short while later, troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol picked up the silent signals from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Chevy was located in the lot of a strip mall in Pinellas Park, where it was parked and abandoned. Police retrieved the TrailBlazer and quickly returned it to its rightful owner.
