The owner of a GMC Envoy Denali parked it in a friend’s garage when he went away, and arrived home to find it missing. Because the SUV was protected with the LoJack® system when it was purchased, local police were able to recover it that same day, in a very surprising location.

On June 3rd, 2014, the GMC’s owner contacted the Will County Sheriff’s Office to report that their vehicle was stolen. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Envoy Denali, which was installed at CarMax in Naperville, IL.

A short while later, officers from the Chicago PD 8th District picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The GMC’s signal led the officers to a used car dealership on South Archer Ave. An acquaintance of the victim had taken the SUV and the title while the owner was away and sold it to the dealership. The undamaged Envoy Denali was retrieved and soon returned to its relieved owner. The search for the suspect is ongoing.
