Friday the 13th is considered an unlucky day by some people. The North Chicago, IL resident in this case probably agreed when she discovered her Chevrolet Corsica had been stolen from her residence’s parking lot on that fateful date. However, her luck turned from bad to good thanks to the intrepid work of her local law enforcement. With an assist from the LoJack® system installed in her car, police recovered it quickly and safely.

On June 13th, 2014, the Chevy’s owner contacted the North Chicago Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack transponder concealed in the Corsica, which was installed at Z Frank Chevrolet in Chicago, IL, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, a deputy from the Lake County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The Chevy was found on Kristen Ave., parked and unoccupied behind a vacant home. Police retrieved the Corsica and soon returned it to its very happy owner.
