The owner of a Toyota Sequoia was visiting a friend in St. Bernard Parish, LA, and parked his SUV in front of the house with the keys in the ignition. The LoJack® system that was installed when the vehicle was purchased helped reduce the effects of this error by helping local law enforcement make a fast, safe, same-day recovery.

On May 12th, 2014, the Toyota’s owner contacted the St Bernard Sheriff’s Office to report the incident. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Sequoia, which was installed at Acton Toyota in Acton, MA.

Just minutes later, officers from the New Orleans PD and Louisiana State Police picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers located the Toyota parked and unoccupied on a street in the lower Ninth Ward. The Sequoia was in great shape and was soon back in the possession of its grateful owner.
